Narration Revision Limits: Scope and Checks to Agree Before Booking

Agree on scope as well as the number of rounds

“One revision” could mean an adjustment to a few line endings or a complete new read. There is no universal revision allowance that applies to every narrator. Agree on both the count and the scope before booking.

Separate three kinds of request

Tonal adjustments

These change warmth, distance, pace or line endings. Explain whether you are refining the agreed direction or changing it. Identify the passage and the change you want rather than saying only “more natural.”

Script changes

Updated product names, numbers and copy are different from tonal adjustments. Even a single sentence may need some surrounding material re-recorded to keep the transition consistent. Send the revised script, the audio version in use and the exact replacement locations.

Reading and recording checks

Flag differences from the approved script, pronunciation instructions or recording quality with timestamps. Discuss the issue separately from a new creative direction instead of assuming the same terms apply.

Four points to settle before recording

• What counts as one round: one video, several chapters or one consolidated set of notes.
• What is included: distinguish performance adjustments from script changes and a complete re-recording.
• When to return notes: agree on a deadline that works with the edit and the reviewers.
• How additions work: confirm the fee and delivery date before requesting extra work.

Where several people review the audio, consolidate their feedback. A simple note with the time, the current reading and the requested change helps avoid conflicting instructions.
