How to Explain Narration Revision Fees in Quotes and Review Notes

Explain the additional work rather than quoting a universal rate

Revision work is not determined by character count alone. A replacement may require checking the surrounding read, recording again, editing the audio and preparing the files for the video editor. “Minor revision” is too vague to define all of that work.

This page is a way to organize a quote, not a claim about an industry-standard allowance or price.

Terms worth including in the quote

Separate tonal adjustments from script updates

Changes to pace or line endings differ from new product names, numbers or sentences. For script changes, confirm the final wording before defining the replacement work.

Define how a round is counted

Does a round mean one email or one consolidated set of review notes? With multiple videos or chapters, state which unit the allowance applies to.

Identify changes that need another quote

A new overall direction, a long replacement passage, another cut or a later update may call for different work. Confirm the scope, fee and delivery date after reviewing the request.

Consolidate notes with the version and time

For example: “Chapter 2, 00:18: leave a little more space after the product name.” This is an illustrative review note, not a quotation from a client project.

• Identify the audio or video filename and version.
• Include the time, the passage and a short explanation of the change.
• Provide approved new wording for script changes.
• Reconcile internal and client notes before sending them back.

If the changes are not final, say so and discuss when to record them.
